    Methodology

    Sampling

    The iNaturalist data used in this study were obtained from observations recorded by community scientists and naturalists on the iNaturalist platform. This dataset comprises geo-referenced records of planted tree taxa identified in various locations across South Africa

    Records were carefully checked to verify the accuracy of taxon identifications, locality data, and categorization as planted rather than wild-growing trees.
