UFRN herbarium - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte - Herbário Virtual REFLORA

The UFRN Herbarium, founded in 1992 by Prof. Adalberto Trindade, is a scientific reference collection on the Flora of Rio Grande do Norte. It is registered with the Ministry of the Environment as a trusted depository institution, listed in the Index Herbariorum, and its digital collection is available through the Reflora/Jabot platform of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute. The importance and management of this collection extend beyond the Department of Botany and Zoology, which hosts it, making it a heritage of the entire UFRN community. Currently, the UFRN Herbarium (indexed under the acronym UFRN) can be accessed online at http://ufrn.jbrj.gov.br, where the entire collection has been digitized, with high-resolution images and computerized sample data. The herbarium actively participates in internationalization efforts, engaging in sample exchanges and cooperation agreements. Notable projects include: Flora of Rio Grande do Norte, Forest Inventory of RN, Expanding Knowledge of Caatinga Flora (PPBio Semi-Arid), and Collaboration Network with CENA/USP in Piracicaba. The UFRN Herbarium receives dried (herborized) plant and algae specimens, especially from the Flora of Rio Grande do Norte, as well as samples from research projects that require deposition in a trusted depository institution, provided they comply with the specimen deposition and identification protocol outlined below. Before submitting a plant specimen to the herbarium, students or faculty members must specify in the identification and deposition protocol the nature of the request, including details about the purpose of incorporating the specimen into the collection. The herbarium collection is publicly accessible and can be consulted in person or online at http://ufrn.jbrj.gov.br or Reflora Virtual Herbarium (under the "Reflora Virtual Herbarium" tab), where high-resolution images of the collection are available.

O herbário UFRN, fundado em 1992 pelo Prof. Adalberto Trindade, é uma coleção científica de referência sobre a Flora Potiguar. Encontra-se registrado no Ministério do Meio Ambiente (instituição Fiel Depositária), no Index Herbariorum e tem seu acervo digital disponibilizado através da plataforma Reflora/Jabot do Instituto de Pesquisas Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro. A importância e gerência dessa coleção excede o Dept. de Botânica e Zoologia (que o hospeda), sendo considerado como patrimônio de toda a UFRN. Atualmente, o acervo do herbário UFRN (indexado pelo acrônimo UFRN) pode se consultado on-line em http://ufrn.jbrj.gov.br, onde toda a coleção está fotografada (digitalizada) e com os dados das amostras informatizados. Ativamente envolvidos no processo de internacionalização, através de intercâmbio de amostras e acordos de cooperação. Entre os projetos de destaque, citamos: Flora do Rio Grande do Norte, Inventário Florestal do RN e ampliação de conhecimento da Flora da Caatinga (PPBio Semi-árido) e a Rede de Colaboração com o CENA/USP Piracicaba. O herbário recebe amostras secas (herborizadas) de plantas e algas, especialmente da Flora do RN, bem como aquelas oriundas de pesquisas e que necessitem ser depositadas em uma instituição fiel depositária, desde que respeitadas as regras listadas no protocolo de tombamento e identificação descritas abaixo. Antes de trazer a amostra de planta ao herbário, o discente ou docente deve explicitar no protocolo de identificação e tombamento qual é a solicitação, com detalhes sobre a finalidade de incorporação do espécime à coleção do herbário. A coleção do herbário é pública, pode ser consultada pessoalmente ou através dos sítios da internet http://ufrn.jbrj.gov.br ou em reflora.jbrj.gov.br/ (na aba herbário virtual reflora) onde constam fotos em alta resolução do acervo.
