Bee occurrence data collected in "Hanamaru-Maruhana national census (Bumble bee national census)" in Japan
Description
We collected bee photographs taken by citizens in citizen science program “Hanamaru-Maruhana national census (Bumble bee national census in English).” Bee occurrence data includes 5,503 records of 16 bumble bee species and 380 records of three carpenter bee species.

Methodology
- Sampling
Species were identified from photographic images, and latitude-longitude data was extracted from GPS data in Exif information of photographs or address in text of e-mail.

We collected bee photographs taken by citizens in citizen science program “Hanamaru-Maruhana national census (Bumble bee national census in English)” in Japan.
- Quality control
The consistency of bumble bee species identification by J. Yokoyama was 95% for 15 bumble bee species, and 97.7% for major six species (B. diversus, B. ardens, B. hypocrita, B. ignitus, B. honshuensis, and B. beaticola)
